FMS + Orthopaedic Surgery: When + How

Functional Movement Systems (FMS) are not traditionally used in an orthopaedic surgeon’s office; however, we have found FMS to be a useful tool to both inform our PT prescription details, as well as support other data in our determination for Return to Play.

Our team utilizes FMS screening in our clinic Fit Lab, and generally is done in addition to a traditional orthopaedic musculoskeletal clinical examination and imaging (radiology) interpretation. FMS compliments our practice as it recognizes movement patterns and helps us understand how these patterns interplay with our health and fitness – looking at the body as a whole.  Please check out details at FMS online for a more in depth review.
